Certain annuities can include long term care benefits, creating another planning category for people who want to discuss potential care expenses alongside an existing asset. This is not traditional stand-alone long term care insurance.
Jilek Risk Group helps clients compare traditional LTC, hybrid or asset-based strategies, and annuity-based LTC approaches based on their circumstances, assets, health history, and planning goals.
An annuity-based LTC strategy may provide long term care benefits under the terms of an annuity contract and rider. Product features, availability, eligibility, benefits, and suitability vary.
Traditional LTC insurance is designed primarily around care risk and commonly uses medical underwriting. An annuity with an LTC Rider is a different product structure. Review Traditional Long Term Care Insurance and Long Term Care Insurance in Dallas for broader context.
Depending on the contract, an annuity may include a rider designed to provide benefits for qualifying long term care needs. Actual benefit triggers and terms are set by the contract.
Leverage refers to the potential LTC benefit structure relative to the annuity value or funding. No universal benefit multiple applies.
Contract value and other outcomes depend on the product terms. This should be reviewed before purchase.
Alternative strategies may be worth discussing after a traditional LTC decline, without assuming eligibility. Visit Declined Long Term Care Insurance Options and our Pre-Existing Conditions Hub.
EquiTrust Bridge® is a fixed index annuity with a Long-Term Care Rider. Current EquiTrust Bridge materials state that clients who pass the applicable annuity suitability requirements are approved for Bridge LTC benefits. This applies to Bridge LTC benefits and does not mean a client has qualified for traditional stand-alone Long Term Care Insurance.
Bridge uses optional underwriting. A client may bypass optional underwriting and receive the Secure class, which is not a decline.
Optional underwriting may result in Standard or Preferred classes, which may provide greater LTC benefit leverage than Secure. These are not guaranteed outcomes.
People with conservative assets, CDs, savings, or other assets may wish to discuss whether this category fits their goals. Repositioning assets is not universally appropriate.
Ask about benefit triggers, surrender terms, liquidity, contractual guarantees, non-guaranteed values, insurer strength, and how the contract fits your broader plan.
